It’s been a momentous year at Sanremo HQ. From the launch of new machines (hello D8) to non-stop events and training sessions at our London hub and festivals across the UK, here are our highlights from 2024.
At the beginning of the year we hit the coffee ground(s) running with events at our slick Sanremo Hub in South Kensington. In January we hosted a home barista course, as well as a cupping session with the origin team from Carvela Coffee. The latter provided a fantastic opportunity for attendees to listen to firsthand stories from origin and expand their coffee-drinking horizons by sampling a range of coffees.
Early spring hailed the hotly anticipated launch of our new machine, the D8, which coincided with London Coffee Festival. At the festival in April, our stand hosted some of the greatest coffee roasters from across the UK and beyond, and we had the opportunity to showcase the brand new D8 which has revolutionised what’s possible on a single boiler platform. Read more about what went down at the fest and the overwhelming reaction we received from the D8.
Also in April, we hosted an SCA Barista Skills Foundation course in collaboration with The Institute of Coffee as well as a discussion with UK Roasters Champion Diana Johnstone on roasting, competing and breaking barriers.
Summer thrills at Sanremo included the unveiling of our custom Café Racers for Balmoral Castle. The project was in collaboration with coffee and machine supplier Caber Coffee, with the collective aim of creating one-of-a-kind equipment to reflect the castle’s historic setting. Get more intel on the behind-the-scenes creative process.
Another exciting collaboration took place at Brighton Coffee Festival in August as we partnered with Sussex’s Craft House Coffee roastery, sharing a stand at the festival. At the stand we hosted Dhan Tamang who revealed insider tips and demonstrated how to craft award-winning coffee.
Roll on autumn, when we invited customers to an exclusive product showcase with Parts Town UK in Staffordshire, and hosted the launch party of the first Indy Coffee Guide London at our Sanremo Hub. The book launch saw the movers and shakers of the city’s coffee scene come together for a night of bevvies, brews and a latte art throwdown – and to roadtest Sanremo equipment.
Listening to our UK Sales Director Stewart Johnson on Bridge Coffee Roasters’ podcast was another highlight of the season. In the episode, Stew covered the evolution of espresso machines – from the groundbreaking arrival of the Opera over a decade ago to the launch of the tech-boundary-pushing D8 this year – and how we drive consistent excellence with every Sanremo machine. Revisit the ep here.
To round off the year, we had the honour of holding a UK Coffee Week x Sanremo UK Roasters Village at our Hub in aid of Project Waterfall. The open-house event was free to attend and saw speciality coffee roasters from Brew Crew, Java Roastery and Big Dog Coffee Roasters showcase their roasts and hand out next-level takeaway brews. Brewed by Hand also joined us with a home brewing station. Wrapping up the good times was Manchester Coffee Festival in November, where we demonstrated what our machines have to offer, enjoyed industry talks and relished the chance to be amongst the vibrant coffee community.
Here’s to a just-as-epic 2025 with more releases, events and exciting news.
